High on bang-for-the-buck, these Italian rosticcerias serve basic meats, panini, and antipasti with Tuscan simplicity and exuberance. In both locations, brick walls, open kitchens, and churning rotisseries make for warm surroundings. The North End branch brings in both tourists and fearless foodies, while the Beacon Hill location draws the pretty-in-khaki locals. The kitchen both pleases and surprises. Marinated artichokes and smoked mozzarella with tomatoes are no-frills and likable. The sweetness of sautéed shrimp is toyed with by a balsamic reduction and mustard greens. And anything you imagine would be good on a rotisserie---pork loin, chicken, sausages---pretty much is.
