Bacchus Description:
Lebanese food in a warm, cozy environment. You can make a meal out of the appetizer sized mezze or go with the entrees.
Bacchus Bethesda and its sister restaurant in DC are no more, but the magic of the original menu and cooking remains. How can this be? A different owner took over the property, upgraded the décor, renamed the restaurant, and hung onto the extensive selection of dishes. A silky-smooth hummus has a texture that resembles heavy cream, and is topped with chopped onions, tomatoes and parsley. With this comes a tray of warm, tender pita. In addition, you can make an entire meal from the hot and cold appetizers. Entrées span such dishes as the expected kebabs---lamb, chicken and fish---to unfamiliar preparations like the fattet makdous (cooked ground beef and eggplant layered on deep-fried bread and slathered with yogurt and pomegranate sauce). For dessert, be sure to order the orange-scented pudding, as addictive as the main courses.
