Although other sophisticated steakhouses have joined Ruth's Chris on the Eastside, this upscale restaurant continues to hold its own and is a good choice for a quiet, elegant lunch or a happy hour stop after a shopping marathon. Launched in New Orleans in the 1960s, the now worldwide chain is dedicated to pairing Prime U.S. Grade A beef with legendary pampering service to make every dining experience memorable. Once inside the handsome, spacious restaurant, you'll overlook its odd location in a parking garage wedged between Nordstrom and Crate & Barrel. Ruth's used to seem formal and stuffy, but compared to its local competition, it now almost seems relaxed---and the food is consistently good. Start by sharing a starter of crab-stuffed mushrooms or the chopped salad. Favorite cuts---all served à la carte---include a flavorful cowboy rib-eye, classic T-bone, and the impressive porterhouse for two. A full bar and wine list enhance the experience.
