Location: Located in the west part of Guangxi Province, Baise neighbors Guizhou, Yunnan and Vietnam. It is the connection point of the three provinces Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan.

History: As early as the Paleolithic Age, there were already human beings living in Baise area. The Qing government set Baise City in 1730, when the name of the city appeared in the history. In 1913, it was changed into Baise County. In 1929, Deng Xiaoping and other great leaders started Baise Rebellion against the imperialism and feudality. They created Youjiang Revolutionary Base there. 1983, the county was changed to Baise City again. And in 2002, it was approved to be under the direct control of Guangxi Province.

Physical Features: Most places of Baise are set in mountain areas. The land inclines from high northwest to low southeast. The urban city is a small basin encircled in mountains in all direction.

Climatic Features: Baise belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate. The average temperature per year is from 19C (66F) to 22C (72F). Summer is not too hot because of abundant rain while winter is not too cold because of less snow.

When to Go: The moderate temperature and pleasant climate make it enjoyable to visit Baise at any time of a year.

Local Highlights: Baise has not only beautiful scenery, but also profound revolutionary history. As the spot of Deng Xiaoping's Baise Rebellion and Youjiang Revolutionary Base, it is one of the 12 red tourism (revolutionary tourism) spots in China. In addition, Baise is where many ethnic minority groups live together, whose colorful cultures add much interest to the charm of the city.

Scenic Spots:
Chuandong Heavenly Pit: Located in Leye County, it is a deep karst pit set in six peaks. It was formed about two million years ago. The mysterious and vivid karst images are most attractive to visitors.

Daweishi Heavely Pit: It's another karst funnel in Leye County. Primitive forests, underground rivers and natural shaped karst caves form a mysterious land.

Other Karst Scenic Spots: Naling Cave and Shuiyuan Cave in Lingyun County

Chengbi Lake: It is an above-water recreational center of Baise. Clear water, scattered islets and continuous mountains provide good environment for yachting and other interesting activities held by the nearby ethnic minority groups.

Buliu River: It is a primitive river winding across Tianlin, Lingyun, Leye and Tian'er counties. The verdant primitive forests along the river provide home for thousands of plants and birds while the ever-clean water offers home for many kinds of fish. The natural stone bridge across the river is another spectacular. The river is also an ideal place for cruise.

Jiangmei Debao Short Horse Paradise: This is a special garden for horse riding and countryside music. Short horse is a kind of uniqueness of Debao County. The mature horse is only 86 cm (2.8 inches) to 106 cm (3.4 inches) tall. Countryside music are mostly presented by the local ethnic minority groups with the special instruments.

Tourist Tips: Baise Airport (AEB) is 38 kms (19 miles) from the urban city. It was started to operate in 2006 and has direct airlines to Guilin, Guangzhou and Kunming. Nankun Railway (Nanning to Kunming) goes across five of Baise's counties. National highways and other provincial highways connect the urban area together with all counties. By the end of 2007, highways from Nanning to Baise will be put into operation, which will make it more convenient and fast to go between the two cities than traveling by train.
