Cipollina's glass display case of take-home prepared foods has been removed but the strong culinary finesse still remains in the kitchen. Drop in for a specialty java drink and giant scones or a dessert like the lavender crème brûlée. On sunny days we can't resist lunching alfresco on a smoked salmon bruschetta or thin charred pizzas from the wood-burning oven (try the homemade sausage and pepper combo). French onion soup or calamari fritti with aïoli make fine snacks or starters. For entrées, we gravitate toward the seared Idaho trout or the tender pork picatta topped with a lemon, caper and artichoke sauce. Penne pasta with prawns also sports an impressive sauce of garlic, preserved lemon, light wine and cream. Half-price pizzas are available daily from 3:30-5:30 p.m., which is a great bargain.
