Riccardo Ullio's flagship restaurant and its sibling, Fritti, a casual pizza parlor, abut each other in this chic in-town neighborhood. If you want nicely cooked risotto, here's where you'll find it. Half portions are easily accomplished not only with risotto, but also with all of the pasta choices. Whole roasted fish is a study in the grand simplicity of Italian cooking. Order a platter of antipasti misti for the table as a good starter, with its arrangement of prosciutto, salami, olives and cheeses. The classic panna cotta, a simple mound of trembling white custard, comes with a sauce of reduced balsamic vinegar, but we find the balsamic vinegar intrusive and prefer it unadorned. A three- or five-choice cheese course, with all-Italian options, comes with olives. Sotto Sotto's well-chosen all-Italian wine list complements the food, and there are plenty of choices available by the glass. Give the robust Valpolicella Classico Le Ragose a shot with the pasta dishes and the duck breast on polenta.
