Alanya once was given as a present to Cleopatra by Marc Antony. We can see why--it offers great beaches, ancient ruins and a fantastic citadel in a beautiful setting. We love Alanya, but we have to admit that it makes us uneasy that the beaches just outside of town are rapidly being "discovered" and developed. We recommend at least one night in town. 250 mi/400 km south of Ankara.
