Fusco's Via Roma Italian Trattoria Description:
Smart Casual attire, Family friendly and romantic atmosphere. Serving lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
With tastes taken from family traditions, notably Sicily and Calabria via Brooklyn, Little Italy and the real Rome, the Fuscos have transplanted their culinary traditions to this small, quaint, restored suburban Atlanta town. It works. Occupying one of the several restored early 20th century storefronts, the restaurant does a great job with crisply fried sweet calamari with traditional marinara sauce and lemon. Sausage on grilled polenta with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce makes a wonderful small plate for a lighter appetite. Although the chicken hunter-style (cacciatore) came a little dry and tough, the lemon chicken was perfectly moist and tender. The steak with fresh herbs, garlic and olive oil was right on the money, and medium rare as ordered. Sausage and peppers on ciabatta bread couldn't have been more nostalgic---and more correctly done. While the wine list isn't going to win any awards soon, what it does offer is the right stuff. The Taurino Notapanaro is a great example of a value Italian wine that goes with so many dishes, especially the sausages and the steak. Good espresso, a rarity, tops it all off.
