Wei Ming Shen's downtown Windsor restaurant doesn't offer much in décor or amenities, but it does have out-of-the-ordinary Cantonese and Szechwan dishes that appeal to those wanting authentic Chinese food. Specialties include lobsters chopped into accessible pieces and served with ginger and green onions or with black bean sauce, salt-baked shrimp with chilies and eggplant with minced pork and garlic sauce. Soups range from hot-and-sour to fish maw and crab meat, seafood and bean curd, and pork and watercress. The extensive menu features, in addition to noodle dishes, chicken, beef and pork in a variety of sauces, several interesting hot pot selections and chicken with salted fish and tofu. About a quarter of the dishes are spicy. This is an affordable experience.
