Rimrock Café Description:
Temperatures may be chilly at Whistler, but the European-style welcome at the Rimrock Café is always warm. It's where the hip, local crowd has been gathering since 1987, drawn to the cozy café with its stone fireplace. Located in The Highland Lodge near Creekside, intimate tables and a menu starring fresh seafood and wild game beckon year-round. The fresh seafood sheet features starters such as Fanny Bay oysters topped with vodka, crème fraîche and caviar, and a warm grilled seafood salad. Main courses range from herb-infused, grilled Pacific salmon with lobster mashed potatoes to the Rimrock seafood trio---grilled tiger prawns, rare ahi, nut-crusted sablefish---and a mixed grill of Arctic caribou, lamb and beef tenderloin. In summer, dine on the back patio amid the fresh herbs in chef Rolf Gunther's garden. Service is top drawer, while a 300-plus-label wine list showcases Pacific Northwest selections.
