Chiara Bistro Description:
The so-called contemporary bistro---with its Pottery Barn aesthetic and its quasi-global pantry---may be ubiquitous, but that doesn't mean it can't still be a pleasure to encounter. Westwood's Chiara is a case in point. Granted, urbanites needn't go out of their way to try this approximation of what's on every corner of their own turf, but locals can be grateful they don't have to make the trek to Boston when such good food is right at their doorstep. The woodsy butternut-ricotta gnocchi would be worth a visit on its own; other standouts include lobster arancini and an aromatic cinnamon-rubbed duck breast. For dessert, we suggest the signature chèvre cheesecake, with its dreamy blend of creamy salty-sweetness. Chef Steve LaCount (formerly of The Country Club in Brookline) is a friendly, vibrant presence in the dining room.
