Even in tony Wellesley, this local Italian chain has a following thanks to a full bar, adequate wines and a wide-ranging menu (for kids as well as adults), with elegant salads and designer pizzas that put the Cal before the Ital, as well as an extensive selection of cream- and butter-laden pastas, veal chops and chicken cutlets that put the true-blue American after it. Still, it could be much worse than pedestrian; reliability and friendliness have kept this franchise afloat.
