By organizing his wine list according to what he calls the Robust factor, sommelier Stanley Browne takes an accessible approach. So, what you'll find is wines categorized by eight adjectives like crisp, mellow, generous and soft-hearted. Thankfully, he avoids the pitfall of dumbing-down the selection, instead showcasing his knowledge with a thorough list that's enjoyable whether customers know a lot or a little about wine. Servers are trained to a T; several, like Browne, are also sommeliers. Small plates, flatbreads, cheeses and charcuterie are all well-executed, and they're priced more-than-fairly given their quality and generosity. Try the New Zealand green lip mussels with fennel and chorizo (paired with mellow or luscious) or the appreciably rustic pâté de campagne (paired with bubbly, mellow or sweet). And if you find a wine you'd like to take home, the little gourmet food and wine nook will be happy to supply it. The dinner crowd arrives fairly early; even on weeknights you can expect to wait---but with a glass of wine in hand, you'd be surprised how quickly time passes.
