Always crowded no matter when you come, all-brick Mike's is the epitome of the casual American eatery where mighty portions rule. You can choose to pass the time in the lively downstairs bar, but if you want to eat seriously, you'll be escorted to an upstairs table. If you're lucky, you'll secure a table near the kitchen where you can get a close-up of the cooks at work. We recommend the Tex-Mex egg rolls or the eight-layer dip and chips as starters. The bacon-cheddar burger is a must; the steaks are good, too. Other homey foods include meatloaf and mashed potatoes or grilled pork chops and the deep-dish apple and blackberry pie.
