Thanh Tong Description:
This small restaurant is usually crowded with local Vietnamese. They come for the house special, the spicy noodle with beef and pork-a big bowl with chunks of meat and mounds of noodles in a rich liquid. Much of the rest of the menu may hold little appeal for the less adventurous westerner, but if you’re game, try items such as the salted fish hot pot, dry noodles with meat and shrimp, lotus salad with meat and shrimp, or vermicelli with duck salad. The spring rolls and fresh summer rolls are tasty, as are the Vietnamese pancake and the rice vermicelli with spring rolls. Eating here may be as close to Vietnam as many of us will ever get.
