Mediterranee Restaurant Description:
This restaurant has taken over the premises of the now-defunct Blue Oasis in Great Falls, and in an effort to recapture a slice of French countryside in Virginia, has introduced a southern French menu that holds great promise on a sunny weekend morning. Brunch it is with this kind of lineup: to start, an unusual fava bean hummus with pita triangles, or a fish soup with garlic toast and rouille; as main courses, you can select hearty meat or pasta dishes, such as a tenderloin steak with a peppercorn sauce, sautéed lamb seasoned with rosemary and a delicate linguini pasta (a more generous hand with the garlic, please) or turn to main course salads, including something called socca which is a chickpea crêpe filled with veggies and served with a salad. Or you may feel more inclined to partake of the typical breakfast-brunch fare. Zeroing in on the unusual crêpe filled with gingered chicken, we anticipated exotic but found odd instead. It's a combo that doesn't quite work, at least not in this rendition. The non-brunch menu is an amalgam of French flavors in French dishes but keep a lookout for a few Mediterranean touches.
