It's not much to look at, as tumbledown shacks on the beach are not usually glamorous destinations. But this Falls Church eatery, a transplant from its Arlington location, takes beaches and beachy food in stride. Its scrungy and weather-beaten outdoors furniture---a mismatched collection of odds and ends---and its interior décor of fishing nets, rubber flip-flops and shells set the mood. And the menu follows through with tasty if a bit pricy fish dishes. Your best bet is to start with one of the sturdy seafood soups such as the seafood "chowda" or in hot weather, the citrusy ceviche of shrimp before heading to any one of the light or heavy entrées. A house favorite is the fish taco platter---somewhat disappointing---so you might find the crab cake sandwich or the dinner-size entrée of shrimp and grits or surf 'n' turf more to your liking. Clare and Don do cater to meat-eaters and vegetarians, as their menu offers plenty of non-seafood options. But at a beach shack, why eat anything else but what the fishermen have hauled in for the catch of the day? P.S. If you find the Key lime pie on offer, snap it up.
