Satay Sarinah Description:
After its move from Georgetown several years ago, the restaurant and its staff continues to serve authentic Indonesian food, and is one of the few such restaurants in the metro area. Originally opened in 1985, today’s restaurant is much smaller and less formal, and with a slightly diminished menu that still takes on some of the staples of the Indonesian table, such as gado-gado, beef rendang, and, of course, the ever-popular satay (in Indonesia, spelled saté), or skewered meat. Even the rijsttafel meal, a several-course feast with elements of favorite dishes, is available, and may be a good way for newcomers to this Asian cuisine to get a feel for what is typical. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with several skewers of saté, the flavorful gado-gado salad, and the hearty rendang. Desserts are skimpy, and not worth the bother, unless you crave a dish of ice cream with fried battered bananas.
