The Taj Cafe Description:
Extensive lunch menu specials starting at $6.50. Recoginized by Elmer Dill (Channel 7 Food Critic) as best Indian restaurant.
A mural of the Taj Mahal on one wall is the most elaborate decoration this Indian restaurant has to offer. It's the daily lunch buffet, not the décor, which draws patrons inside. The food is better than you'd expect at a buffet, and the low price keeps local diners coming back. The regular menu has some nice additions to Indian standards. For one, they offer Bombay frankies---street food that could be considered the Indian interpretation of the burrito. There are three types of frankies here: lamb, chicken and cauliflower. The Taj Café also realizes that masala is one of the most popular sauces, and they offer it with chicken, lamb, fish and even shrimp. Under the heading of Taj's Exclusive on the menu, there's a tantalizing tandoori chicken in a mango sauce. Speaking of mango, the chutney sampler on the appetizer list is a good idea for fruit fans. Eleven different vegetarian dishes are on offer, many of them quite heart-healthy. We also suggest the garlic naan. Best of all for locals, Taj delivers if you live within two miles.
