Review :
Four of us frequented Italian Tomato last night prior to a sow at the River Rock.
The first thing that struck me about this place is how awkward the location is. Although on busy Bridgeport in Richmond, it is after Number 3 Road, right before you get on the bridge to go to the Airport of Vancouver... stranger still is that it is hidden from the only direction you can come from (east) because of an empty building in front of it. It's too bad really, because our dining experience was excellent...
Once we found it, they had plenty of parking. We waled in to this non-pretentious and welcoming restaurant with open bar and semi-open kitchen. The atmosphere was light, and easy, nothing that you would feel too serious about. Somewhere between an Old Spaghetti Factory and an East Side Mario's.
The service was great, but we were there at 5:30, so it wasn't yet busy, allowing our server to be extra attentive.
But here's the good part... the food! The pasta is incredible... you choose your sauces and the pasta type (both stuffed or not) and it is cooked al-dente. Almost everyone in our party could have eaten 1 portion, but of course we ordered 4, leaving a lot of leftovers for lunch for the next 203 days (great value)!
We started with the Insalata Tricolore (bocacini tomato salad) and I had the Tuscana pasta with Whole Wheat Alfredo Noodles. My wife had the Primavera with whole wheat noodles also- just writing about it is making me hungry again... off to the leftovers!
