The restaurant's ambiance is okay, the wait staff is nice, but management is rude beyond anything you can expect and acts like he does not want your business. I have been to this restaurant on a few occassions, but when I was there with my boyfriend the other night, I'm done with this place for good.
Upon filling out a customer feed back card which came with the bill to inform them they were misleading when the waiter offered a selection of sauces to go with my steak which cost $5 each instead of free of charge with the steak, I was contacted the very next day by a rude and defensive chef/owner/manager. His sarcastic and catty remarks were incredibly offensive and unprofessional. Here's what he has to say:From: HAMILTON STREET GRILL [mailto:hamiltonstreetgrill@telus.net]

I got your comment card and I really am at a loss as to how to respond to this.
As all of the pricing is on the menu, it cannot come as a surprise. By printing the prices on the menu and presenting the menu to the guest, I would think that that was informing them.
The waiter was offering you options, but at no point was it ever suggested that they are free on an $11.00 steak. If he had asked you if you wanted lobster with that, would you have thought the same ?
I am not trying to be argumentative, but would the same logic apply when he asked you if you wanted something to drink ? Did you think the drinks were free ?
Anyways, thank you for coming in and I hope this has shed some light on pricing issues.

With the wide selections of good restaurants in the area which has courteous service around, I'm surprised this place is still in business. I for one will not be returning to spend my hard-earned money to be treated like that.
With that kind of Customer service, they don't deserve any business.
Oh and if you want to know about the food all I can say is that the chef is not able to duplicate the same food twice, it can be terrific at one time and utterly disgusting the next. Now I know why they try to lure you in with $11 steak.

Last Friday, 2 of us went to the Hamilton Street Grill for a casual dinner. I wasn't sure about this place, but as soon as I walked in I got blown away. Very nice restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice, the people are very friendly and the food looked and tasted great. There was a small hick up with the ordering, but it was quickly rectified and the service continued on the way it always was. We even got a few free things to apologize for hick up. We both enjoyed ourselves so much, we were the last couple to leave the restaurant. Definitely will be back!

If you want great food in Yaletown without the yuppie price/surroundings, come to Hamilton Street Grill! The seafood entrees are the exact same quality as any of the fine dining spots in town. The fish is absolutely fresh. Their steak is nothing to scoff at either.

A group of us from the office decided to stop by Hamilton Street Grill (1 block away) for lunch yesterday and the experience was definitely and unanimously decidedly good.
On food, my burger was done really well and I enjoyed it. The others I was with had mixed reviews, but the good reviews outweighed the bad. I felt the food was good in general, I did not have any dessert.
I can't really fault the sub-par service, since we were the first ones there (11:15am) and I think in the staff were just getting there and setting up for the lunch rush. Next time a "Thank you" or " Come again" could have been said either by our waitress or the hostess... oh well!
