Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill Description:
Owner-chef Giuseppe "Pino" Posteraro (who once cooked for Frank Sinatra) presides over the kitchen here, capturing strong, clear flavors in his cooking and tapping an innate ability to pair French-inspired, Mediterranean dishes with selections from an impressive 1,400-plus-bottle wine cellar---a 61 page wine list. Managers Celestino Posteraro and Massimo Piscopo manage the old wine and keep the scene flowing. The chef named the sunny, open kitchen, open concept dining room in Yaletown as a pun, melding his name onto the seafood stew, cioppino. Signature creations such as dry-aged rib-eye steak with rocket salad, linguine with lobster, and free-range chicken with raspberry vinegar-apricot sauce, draw diners to the side-by-side restaurants. For dessert, indulge in the "soft heart" chocolate cake with vanilla custard and ice cream, or choose the chiboust, a cream of passion fruit served with roasted pineapple and croissant ice cream. Lemon-lovers will go for the limoncello cheesecake with mascarpone citrus sorbet. Next door at Enoteca, there's also a low-key wine bar with a busy rotisserie.

This has to be one of the best pasta restaurants in the city and maybe beyond. Every pasta dish I've tried thus far has exceeded my expectations. It can get a little pricy, but it's well worth it when you're comfortably satiated at the end of the meal. The lamb and beef dishes are also particularly good, but this is a truly a place for pasta. If you really want to knock your socks off, try the Pappardelle with 4-hour-braised veal cheeks and porcini mushrooms - Awesome dish! On the down side, the portions are a little smaller than you would expect for the price you’re paying, but if you want this kind of quality, you’ve got to pay for it!

Always a good, but expensive, choice! by BAL

If you love pasta, this is the place for you. We went to Cioppino's last week for a business dinner and it was fantastic. The service is top notch, very knowledgable and attentive. I had a Warm Goat Cheese salad with portabello mushroom, artichoke and a maple caramel reduction drizzled on top. It was very tasty. For my Main Course I had a Lobster and Crab Pasta with a Tomato Cream Sauce. It was some of the best pasta I have ever had, the sauce was simple but so flavorful. To finish off the meal I had an espresso and a Rasberry/Mango Sorbet. It was a perfect way to end the meal.
