Went here before a show at GM Place tonight... As soon as the show was over, I came home to write this review, as I was so impressed with the restaurant (even more so than the show)
As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in a non-pretentious old-style European resto/bistro. Although the decor is not flashy or expensive, it makes you feel relax and appreciative to be in the restaurant.
The staff are exceptionally friendly and easy going, but always maintain their professionalism.
Finally, the food and drinks... what can I say, absolutely perfect. I had the fig martini with blue cheese. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the tart blue cheese really did a good job in offsetting the sweetness of the fig martini. This was one of the most unique drinks I have ever had.
For the appetizers, we all split them family style (4 people). My favorite was the Octopus Carpaccio. Then for the main, my wife and I split mussels in 'vin blanc' and the maple salmon. Surprise, surprise, the mussels came with pomme frites, which were out of this world, and served truly European style with a side of garlic mayo... yummm!!! All very good...
This is a definite repeat on our agenda! See you soon Chambar!

I was expecting more... especially from all the buzz...
Atmosphere was so-so, food was so-so, service was good.
No need to get into details, it just wasn't top of my list as many others have made it. To each their own...

Chambar Restaurant is one of our favourite places to eat, and we cannot day enough good things about it. It is a European style bistro setting, bursting with energy, and the food is phenomenal. The menu is more than reasonably priced, and the service is efficient, friendly and attentive. We have had several meals there in the past - everything from Valentine's style intimate dinners, to entertaining a family gathering of 14... and any time someone is visiting from out of town, it is the first place that I think to take them. It is the most unique and titillating place Vancouver has to offer.
