I posted on August 13th, 2009. At the beginning of November 2009 a new owner has taken over. From what I can see, and taste, things have vastly improved.

It's good to see a new direction here.
Neighbourhood restaurants are a dying breed and I hope the lack of direction and attention to detail from the previous year have now been resolved with this new owner at the helm.

Sadly, in light of the recent positive reviews posted here, I don't think they're enough to bring me back to where I used to go at least once a week.

I highly doubt that they're going to be able to bring the food quality to where it was before the current owners took over.

Worse yet, the prices are too expensive for what you're getting.

When the HST kicks in in July, to order a pizza at George's, you'll have to sell your car to afford to eat there.

Give your heads a shake, owners -- better the food and lower the prices before July or make room for the "For Lease" sign in the window... you won't need the "Open" sign any more... put it there.

I have spent a great deal of time eating in George's over the the past years, and have seen the transition of several owners.

The current owner represents the first time this has not been a family owned restaurant, and it shows. The quality of food has diminished, while the prices have risen. The service has diminished as well, and I have waited for my waitress to finish smoking in the back on more than one occassion. At times, I have been there when hardly anyone was there and many tables weren't even cleaned while the waitress read the newspaper. A lack of presentation at such times is difficult to explain.

An attention to detail and quality have left this place, as have many regulars. I feel compelled to write this out of frustration.

I haven't been to george's for years since it has steadily gone down hill. i decided to give it another go and much to my surprise george's has done a 360. Since George's is famous for their pizzas i decided to try it again - they now offer thin crust which we got and it was EXCELLENT - the server was attentive and after several minutes of conversation it was said that there was new mnanagement and they had a rough start but it seems that they have overcome what ever hurddle they faced for my most recent experience was surprising pleasent - i'm glad i gave George's another try - nice upgrades to the place to give the place a nice ambiance

Since the new owners have pretty much destroyed everything that made George's good before they took over (decent food, REASONABLE prices and good sized portions) I've been looking for pizza that matched what George's USED to taste like.

I've discovered Sarpino's Pizza on West Broadway. Not exactly like George's (the tomato sauce is a little bland comparatively speaking) but the crust and toppings are close to the good ole' pre-current-owners days of George's. Better yet, the prices are much more reasonable.

Granted, Sarpino's doesn't have a dining room, there's no alcohol served, but, if you like delivery, Sarpino's may be something to consider if you like the old George's pizza.

I was in George's and I order a lasagna wich is very good, the sauce is delicius but I had a problem the prices I think that they are expensive and the waitress was smoking in the back

I've been going to George's for over 15 years, saw many ownerships of this place, and they've all been great until December '08 when the new owners bought what used to be a great restaurant.

With great arrogance, the new management substancially increased the prices, managed to make the pizzas taste like cardboard and downsized the portions of the side dishes.

Instead of worrying about installing that new hardwood floor and increasing prices, they should figure out how to return their food to the same quality the customers enjoyed under the previous managment at affordable prices.

At this rate, I doubt that George's will remain in business under the current owners and that saddens me. I doubt I'll return as long as the current management continues their current business model.

It wouldn't be difficult to win me back... stop cheaping out on the portions, figure out how the previous owners prepared their pizzas and return the prices within reason.

In Dec 08, George's was taken over by new management, and the pizza kind of sucks now. We need suggestions! Tried Moki's and will use Minervas if nothing better is suggested. So sad. THis was our big Friday night treat.

OK... you order pizza and salad for your family of five and the guest family of 4 you have over at the house... What happens next is out of a comedy move, NOT! The cheese on the Greek salads smells rancid. Literally like something that you would never think about eating. You call the restaurant, and they tell you that it is the normal smell. Problem is that you've ordered from them before and know that it isn't right. Next, you ask that they deliver something else, and here's what they do... they charge some obscure amount, stating that they will not credit you for the entire salad prices. Bottom line, I used to like this restaurant until this customer service issue happened. They turned my 3 $10 salad debacle into a lost client (and potentially more lost business with my bitchin).
