Urban Turban Description:
This venture from Vineet Bhatia, the chap who runs smart Rasoi Vineet Bhatia in Chelsea, offers tapas-style Indian street food in a two-floor restaurant. It's a comfortable spot with dark aubergine walls, suede banquettes, dual-coloured chairs, decorated mirrors and low-level lighting. The menu lists starter-size and large dishes, so you can easily share the likes of spicy scallops with garlic and coriander; red masala chicken tikka with onion relish and herb chutney; and asparagus, carrot and paneer samosas. The larger dishes run from spicy Goan swordfish to Parsi chicken with apricots and potatoes. Or you can choose the DIY version---the sharing platters that come as fish, lamb and chicken which you cook on a hot volcanic rock in the middle of the table. It's all a bit hit-and-miss, with some dishes well prepared and others with faults, perhaps dry or overcooked which is not what is expected from such a good chef. But go for the cocktails, dress smartly and have fun.
