Pearl Bar & Restaurant Description:
The restaurant sparkles with long strings of crystals hanging from the ceiling; the lights are kept low and the wood interior gives the space a more intimate air. Chef Jun Tanaka has become more self confident with the years and is cooking very well indeed. His style is complex, mixing ingredients with skill as in cured venison with oxtail croquettes, creamed horseradish and pickled beetroot where the tastes complement rather than clash. For mains, roast smoked salmon might come with Scotch egg, or try the duck with beetroot tarte Tatin, salsify and creamed cavolo nero. Desserts are equally as tempting; the delightful staff makes you feel right at home and the wine list, though pricey, serves many by the glass. Set 1-course lunch £19, 2 courses £26, 3 courses £29.
