Notting Hill Brasserie Description:
The brasserie is in a pleasant townhouse, decorated in pale colours with well-spaced and comfortable chairs and tables. In both atmosphere and décor it's far removed from Notting Hill's more usual trendy and young dining scene. The cooking is just as sophisticated, with starters like Jerusalem artichoke soup with roast quail and quail's egg, or caramelized veal sweetbreads, with artichoke purée, crispy frogs' legs and veal tail tortellini. Mains follow the same complex route: duck comes with squash purée, confit cabbage and pear tatin, and how about almond crumble with an almond sauce and apricots in Sauternes and lavender and vanilla gelato? Service is professional and unhurried; the wine list impressive. Set 2-course lunch £17.50, 3 courses £22.50. Set Sun. jazz lunch 2 courses £25, 3 courses £30.
