Albion Description:
Sir Terence Conran's "British caff," as it's referred to, is the casual dining side of his hotel (more a restaurant with rooms) in trendy Shoreditch. It's designed just right, from the converted tractor seats at the bar to the hand-knitted tea cosies that keep your Brown Betty warm (teapot to those not yet fluent in the subtleties of British cuisine). Large windows let in the light; otherwise it comes from enamel canteen-style overhead lamps. Come here for the likes of kedgeree, Welsh rarebit, shepherd's pie, Irish stew, egg custard and bread and butter pudding. You won't taste much better.
