Shorty's Description:
Bryan Wilson, a native of New Zealand, launched a second location of his successful neighborhood joint in Tucker. While the menu is basically the same, the radically different demographics made necessary some adjustments, so don't look for the spaghetti squash appetizer here. The interior of the restaurant is very spiffy, despite its outward appearance, with a shiny copper sheet wall and pinpoint lighting. But you'll find the same thin-crust wood-oven baked pizzas, including the Shorty's originals, such as Sid Vicious with its myriad meats (black forest ham, salami, sausage, pepperoni and ground beef). "Buttermilk" chicken does not denote fried as it would most places, but lightly char-grilled after being buttermilk soaked; it comes on a mound of mashed potatoes. We prefer the grilled green beans with it, and the staff happily adjusts to a customer's preferences. Salads are huge and fresh, and the Caesar comes with generous amounts of tart white anchovies on top. Dessert choices include the apple pizzas. Good beers on draught and some wines quench a thirst, but we still argue for more New Zealand wines on this list in deference to Wilson's home turf.
