Taquería Los Hermanos Description:
Simply decorated with small icons of the homeland (Mexico) and American flags prominently displayed, this great value spot is the work, literally, of six brothers. Thus, the name reflects the family nature of the ownership and the kitchen work. Everything is made fresh. The guacamole is chunky and perked up with flecks of tomato and onion; the salsa and chips are a notch above the norm; and the sangría comes tasting homemade (which it is) from decent wine. Tacos and tamales make the restaurant's reputation, and draw its many customers with their families. The fish tacos come with a tasty jalapeño tartar sauce and a nifty banana-pepper-onion escabeche, while tender, well-flavored carnitas (pork cubes) fill another. Two make a meal. Little kids especially love this food, and their menu, like the grown-up's version, offers dishes made from scratch. The wine list isn't long, but it's chosen with some thought, and includes a decent Chianti and Pinot Grigio.
