Focusing on New Orleans style Cajun, Texas BBQ, and Traditional Mexican cooking, the Gulf of Mexico Café & Catering Company, at 4354 Redondo Beach Blvd., is a great place for good home-style cooking, great prices, teas, coffees, juices, sandwiches, soups and salads.
The café features Mexican or Cajun fish & chicken tacos, 12�? burritos (The Big One), Pineapple-papaya chicken dinners, BBQ tri-tip, ribs and chicken. We also make and sell by the bottle all of our own salsa and in fact have 7-8 levels, ranging from “gringo aromatic�? to “too hot�?!!
The interior is bright and cheerful and has colorful Mexican decorations including mini-sombreros, ceramic fish and rainbow suns with smiling faces. There are palms and bromeliads piñatas to look at while eating the fare on ceramic dishes.
With plate glass windows on two sides, the front of the café faces the intersection of Hawthorne and Redondo Beach Blvd.’s and it is a great place for people watching. Outside, there are three large round plastic tables with comfortable chairs to sit and sip coffee, fruit juices and spicy Indian Chai tea. Smoking at outside tables. Music is usually Spanish language & Jazz. Otherwise, the radio is tuned to KPFK for news and opinions.
