The Veranda Description:
The Veranda is a fine dining American cuisine restaurant celebrating 10 years in Kingwood. The service is cordial and the atmosphere is romantic and is enhanced by the smooth sounds of Pat and Ray (most nights). The owners are the entertainers and their son, James, is the executive chef.
Most diners at The Veranda have staked their claim on Prime filet or steak au poivre, making the latter the specialty of the house. But that hasn't stopped the kitchen from raising the culinary bar with such inventive menu items are pork à la maison, a tenderloin roasted with Granny Smith apples, Jack Daniels and candied pecans. Less tempting is the lobster en croûte special, too rich to serve as a full main course. We recommend the seafood cakes appetizer, a perfect blend of mahi mahi, lump crab, prawns and crawfish tails, served in a delicate Dijon sauce. The décor is elegant, though slightly commercialized with huge framed wedding and family portraits from the owners' photo studio. Still, this comfortable spot continues to be a welcome retreat for North Houston denizens craving Continental cuisine.
