Some things never change, and luckily, Germantown Commissary is one of them. Housed in a century-old former country store (aka commissary) next to the railroad tracks in downtown Germantown, the restaurant is fragrant with years of hickory smoke. The food tastes as good as it smells from the authentic ribs and pulled pork to the hot tamales and barbecue-topped baked potatoes. Check out the super-sweet Southern pies and other homemade desserts. It's casual as casual can be, and worth the wait you may encounter at lunchtime, when the place is packed with locals.
