Baily Wine Country Cafe Description:
This may not be St. Helena, but after a day of tasting in the rolling vineyards of the Temecula Valley and browsing for antiques in Old Town, you might believe---at least for a fleeting moment---that you're in the Napa Valley. The second-floor Baily's, owned by local Baily Vineyard & Winery, is one of the more formal restaurants in Temecula, with candlelit, white linen-draped tables generously spaced in several intimate, art-filled rooms. Starters include a very satisfying New Orleans-inspired dish of skewered prawns and andouille sausage glazed with tamarind barbecue sauce and served over dirty rice with mango chutney; and a velvety butternut squash soup drizzled with crème fraîche. For main courses, consider the signature salmon Wellington in tarragon velouté or chicken schnitzel in a creamy lemon-caper sauce. The wine list extends far beyond the immediate surroundings, offering interesting and reasonably priced bottles from around the globe. The Baily family's more casual restaurant, Front Street Bar & Grill, sits on the ground floor of the same building.
