Pelagia Trattoria Description:
As the on-site restaurant in the stylish Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza, Pelagia is faced with the usual expectations from guests and strives to prove quickly that its menus aren't hotel-typical. The modern décor helps, but serving three meals a day is a challenge for any kitchen. The Mediterranean influences here don't dominate, but they do inspire. A special breakfast item to try (if you have the appetite) is the waffle with cappuccino mousse and nuts. The lunch menu offers such "teasers" (appetizers) as octopus cured with garlic and mint and wild mushroom risotto croquettes. Lunch also offers a variety of mix-and-match pizzas. For dinner, entrées can include pappardelle with traditional bolognese sauce and shaved Pecorino Romano. A favorite is the signature Pelagia bouillabaisse, although another standout may be the roasted salmon with Hawaiian sea salt and red beet vinaigrette and artichoke flan.
