Thai Basil Description:
This small Thai restaurant has been voted Best Thai Food by the readers of the San Jose Mercury News. The intimate dining area fills up fast here, but if it's full, don't despair! They've got another, equally good, location in Town and Country village about a block away.

Their web site has a lot of information about Thai food.
This is the first and funkier of the two Thai Basil restaurants, with reliably good, reasonably priced food. The salad-like larb is refreshing and fiery. It's ample for two and a good change of pace from pad thai, though Thai Basil does that well, too. For dinner, try the keaw wan, a lovely coconut-tinged green curry, or the spicy panang neua, a red curry that pairs best with beef. The tiger roast chicken---half a chicken marinated in house special sauce, slowly roasted, and topped with slivers of lemon grass---is juicy and tender. Monterey Catch is a myriad of California seafood including prawns, mussels, squid and scallops sautéed in a spicy chili sauce with eggplant, bell peppers, onions and sweet basil. Also located at 210 Town & Country Village, Sunnyvale, 408-774-9090.
