Hula Hanks Description:
All that's missing from this Hawaiian-themed restaurant are the hula girls and leis. It's a veritable tropical paradise here, right down to the palm fronds hanging over the bar and the sun and surf scenes decorating the dining room walls. Sure, there's a big kitsch factor, but nonetheless, it's hard to suppress the instinct to reach for your suntan lotion while you wait for your drink. In keeping with the theme, the dishes on the American menu have cute, catchy names. Spicy boneless chicken tenders with three choices of intensity are referred to as Shark Bites, and the Bal Boa is thinly sliced roast beef au jus with melted Swiss on a garlic hero. Despite the catchy names, the menu is still ultimately typical bar fare. It's nothing exceptional, but it is fine in its laid-back luau kind of way, not to mention, very reasonably priced. Hank, you could say, is a party animal and his restaurant is more about tasty grub and oversize cocktails that get the energy surging like a good wave.
