Keys Description:
Keys is quite an institution in the initiation of young ones. It's where Minnesotans take their kids when they're old enough to learn about roast beef hash. Everything at Keys is big: the chunks of tender roast beef in the mountainous hash, the glossy caramel rolls studded with crushed pecans and the thick slices of bread supporting mounds of turkey and mashed potatoes in the hot turkey sandwich---a dish that always brings back memories of a gentler, kinder and non-cholesterol-counting era. Even so (and as much as we love the meatloaf), mostly we come here for a traditional Keys breakfast, which is served all day. Expect tender, plate-size pancakes, waffles, fat omelets stuffed with ham, bacon, Italian sausage, cheese and more. Prepare for a wait on the weekends, especially at the original Keys on Raymond Avenue.
