Hominy Grill Description:
As a good southern neighborhood restaurant should, they are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch. You will not find canned food, just simply prepared and beautifully presented southern specialties made with only the freshest local ingredients.
Robert Stehling's downtown restaurant feels like grandma's house and sits on the bitter edge of the Charleston Peninsula's urban frontier, yet is known coast-to-coast for its food. Inside, all is warm and cozy, wrapped in biscuits and cornbread. The menu starts with big fat omelets for breakfast accompanied by home fries and toast. Lunch continues the feast with salads of all stripes next to specials like shrimp Creole and tender country-style pork ribs with molasses barbecue sauce and red rice. Hominy Grill may be most popular for breakfast and lunch, but it truly shines at dinner, when Stehling displays more complexity within such Southern classics as the curry-laced Country Captain, traditional shrimp and grits, and fun appetizers like house-made hot pepper jelly with goat cheese and water crackers.
