Cantinetta serves Italian cuisine in a vintage brick building that's both casual and romantic. The stylish candlelit dining room features dark wood floors, antique mirrors and iron chandeliers. Dine inside or out depending on the season, but on a warm night, given the dining room's noise level, opt for a quiet sidewalk table. The small menu features local ingredients in robust Tuscan-style dishes and includes antipasti, pastas and entrées, which typically offer pork, fish and beef options. Menu descriptions are brief, and include gnocchini, tomato, mozzarella, basil pesto and ricotta ravioli, roasted beets and salted almonds. Desserts tantalize, especially the bombolini---huge, lighter-than-air donuts filled with vanilla mascarpone and dusted with sugar. The Italian and Northwest-focused wine list is a bit pricey, but keep costs down by selecting the house wine. Don't let the no-reservations policy deter you---just show up early or late.
