Betty, the younger sister of trendy Crow on Lower Queen Anne, offers well-prepared bistro-style comfort food in an eclectic yet sophisticated setting. The cozy, earth-toned space is flanked by a lively kitchen counter along one side and a bar tucked into the little lounge in back. The succinct, ever-evolving menu reflects owner-chefs Craig Serbousek and Jesse Thomas's straightforward cooking style and matches with well-crafted cocktails and wines under $30. Begin with a tower of sliced heirloom tomatoes blanketed with shaved Parmesan and onion slivers. Green tomatoes are fried crisp and dipped in sweet-tart tomato jam. We also like the modestly priced steak frites. If you're craving seafood, check out the seared scallops complemented by bacon-dressed frisée. Fans of Crow's signature dish---crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside roast chicken---will not be disappointed with Betty's version. Sweet endings here are delightful and season-specific. Dip your spoon into raspberry crème brûlée, a dark chocolate soufflé with almond ice cream, or classic rice crispy bits. The solid wine list is well-priced.
