As an institution that probably has seen better days, this affordable spot is still a hit with college students and locals. Breakfast features old-fashioned blueberry and buckwheat pancakes smothered in genuine maple syrup, plus classic sausage and egg dishes and the ever-popular biscuits 'n' gravy. At lunchtime, everyone shows up for the soup-and-sandwich fare. Best bets include tomato soup, chicken and dumplings, and the Monte Cristo sandwich. Coffee cups are refilled all day long.
