One of Lower Queen Anne's unsung gems near Seattle Center's theaters and opera house, 10 Mercer is a good choice for a pre-performance dinner or late-night supper. There's a tempting selection of well-prepared Northwest-themed dishes presented in a setting taken straight from a New York-style bistro. The carefully chosen wine list of Northwest favorites complements a menu of generous small plates as well as hearty grilled entrées. Feel decadent enjoying a large burger crowned with Stilton cheese and crisp bacon accompanied by shoestring fries, or indulge in pancetta-wrapped tenderloin. The menu often nods towards Asian cuisines, particularly with fish, such as fresh halibut served on udon noodles in a Szechuan broth. Portions lean towards generous, so it's easy to share an order of oven-roasted Penn Cove mussels or chicken skewers dotted with cumin on apple-fennel slaw from the appetizer menu. Be sure to pace yourself to save room for dessert, particularly the chocolate torte.
