Serafina Description:
Serafina's romantic ambience and rustic Italian fare make this charming neighborhood restaurant popular for both first dates and significant anniversaries, as well as for small groups of friends. A mural depicting a busy Italian piazza sets the dining room mood. The menu interprets Tuscan classics with Northwest ingredients. Start with Penn Cove mussels or tender squid, pan-flashed with garlic, lemon, Italian parsley and chili flake. Pastas, which may be ordered either as first courses or entrées, might include linguine tossed with steamed baby manila clams, or plump squash and ricotta ravioli garnished with toasted hazelnuts. Thinly-sliced eggplant rolled with ricotta, fresh basil and Parmesan, then baked in a tomato sauce, is a house special. For something non-traditional, try the oven-roasted chicken breast served with a spunky pomegranate-pepper coulis, spicy carrot fritters, and sautéed dates and almonds. End with fried apple pie ravioli or a pine nut-rosemary tart paired with rhubarb-rosemary sorbet and rosemary caramel. The Sunday jazz brunch is a Seattle tradition. Service can be slow, but just pretend you're in Italy.
