Place Pigalle Description:
Seeking a terrific view of the Olympic Mountains, Elliott Bay, and a menu with French accents? Head to Place Pigalle. Tucked into a corner of Pike Place Market, the diminutive restaurant has a classic checkerboard tile floor, crisp white linens, and a comfortable aura. In fine weather, its small patio is beckons. The menu leans towards French classics, but includes dishes with multi-ethnic pedigrees, and a bounty of seafood. Mussels lounge in a balsamic vinaigrette spiked with bacon, celery and shallots. Oysters shimmer in a buttery broth. Roasted tomatoes join pancetta in a dill-scented vinaigrette paired with pan-roasted salmon, and are the base of a fragrant saffron-and-thyme-laced broth for a seafood stew. Meat is far from an afterthought, though, as revealed by the tender cider-glazed rabbit roulade stuffed with apple, chestnuts, spinach and blue cheese. For a sweet ending, we suggest the chocolate pot de crème. The wine lists---both regular and the reserve version---highlight Northwest, California and French varietals. The bar is also well-stocked with port, brandy, eau de vie, and other after-dinner libations.
