Palisade Restaurant Description:
A curving wall of windows frames panoramic views that embrace Seattle's skyline and busy port, the Olympic Mountains, and even Mt. Rainier on clear days. Located below Magnolia Bluff next to the yacht-filled Elliott Bay Marina, Palisade's exotic interior features footbridges traversing tranquil saltwater tide pools. A tiered dining room is warmed by dark koa wood while tiny white lights twinkle in tall trees under a domed ceiling hung with enormous blown-glass sculptures. The food is as showy as the space. Begin with the pupu platter, the silky seafood chowder, or Dungeness crab cakes edged with Thai plum sauce. Fish dominates the fresh sheet and it's often served all gussied up with a range of flavors, such as salmon stuffed with mushrooms, sage and Parmesan, or mahi mahi in a curry-soy marinade with beurre blanc and banana-papaya chutney. For something less complex, order the crab-stuffed halibut or the seafood in a rich lobster sauce. Meat-lovers will enjoy the juicy steaks more than the charred rack of lamb. Desserts hold their own amidst all this flamboyance. For Sunday brunch, an opulent buffet features banana-macadamia nut-sourdough griddle cakes flipped to order.
