Mona's Description:
Off the beaten path in Greenlake, Mona's is worth a visit even if you don't live nearby. Quiet, dark and inviting, it's a good choice for an affordable romantic date or a night out with the girls. The mahogany bar is attractive, and velvet curtains separate the lounge from the green-stippled, votive-lit dining room. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, and though chefs have come and gone, the food remains satisfying. Check out the tapas, available in the lounge, or plunge into Mojo mussels strewn with chorizo and fragrant with orange and lime. A romesco sauce accompanies sweet, garlic-marinated grilled shrimp, while goat cheese ravioli arrive tossed with lemon butter and paired with portobello mushrooms and asparagus. The seasonal bistro menu usually includes staples such as tender, meaty leg of duck confit paired with lima beans glistening with lemon-chive oil; individual paellas filled with creamy, saffron-scented Arborio rice and studded with chicken, seafood and chorizo; and bacon-wrapped filet mignon. The wine list is as eclectic and affordable as the menu. Enjoy fruity clafoutis or silky panna cotta---the new tiramisu---as a sweet finale to your meal.
