Le Pichet Description:
This tiny French café---Le Pichet means "pitcher" in French---serves authentic bistro food in a simple, sophisticated setting. The narrow dining room has tile floors and dark banquettes, and a small, elegant zinc bar seats a few patrons off to one side. Owned and managed by chef Jim Drohman with his business partner, Joanne Herron, Le Pichet offers three menus: Le Déjeûner, Le Dîner, and Le Casse-Croûte, which is served all day. Menu items change throughout the year, but count on impressive house-made charcuterie such as pâtés, confit, sausages, and smoked or cured meats. During colder winter months, creamy mussel-and-saffron soup and raw oysters on the half shell paired with a steely glass of Muscadet are an ideal way to begin a meal. Whole chickens are roasted to-order and served with a silky demi-glace accompanied by forest mushrooms. Daily specials, along with assorted of cheeses and desserts, are listed on blackboards. The wine---served by the glass from ceramic pichets or by the bottle---is first-rate and fairly priced.
