A short walk from Green Lake, this inviting bar and grill serves unexpectedly good food in a pleasant low-key setting. An airy, light-filled dining room is wrapped with floor-to-ceiling windows and sidewalk seating is popular on sunny days. The straightforward menu offers a range of appetizers, soups, salads, half-pound burgers and sandwiches. Although dishes are simple, sophisticated twists make things interesting, such as the salmon or cod fish 'n' chips accompanied by chipotle-lime tartar sauce. But grilling is the star of the show here, and a variety of grilled fish is served with side dishes and dipping sauces, salsa or relish. Fresh albacore is grilled rare and accompanied by pan-fried noodles or with pasta tossed with roasted red peppers and a fruity olive oil. A 12-ounce New York steak is enhanced by a brandy-mushroom sauce and basil mashed potatoes.
