A corner location and many windows provide an airy ambience that's accented with Indian art and artifacts. An open kitchen takes center stage surrounded by the bar, lounge and dining room. Although the food here is adapted for Western palates, the large menu offers many crowd-pleasing Indian standards, plus vegetarian options. Lobster, trout, Dungeness crab and salmon make an appearance, while lamb is prepared in half a dozen ways, including a classic Southern Indian coconut stew. The smoky bengan bharta (eggplant) rarely fails to please; we also recommend the tandoori scallops. You can even order a New York steak topped with a curried mushroom-wine sauce. Lunch features the topnotch bargain buffet, or order soups, salads, wraps and pasta à la carte.
